This journal keeps obsessive records of what games do and no records at all of what readers do. The notice below is therefore mostly a description of measurement we deliberately did not build.
We hold none. There is no account system, no reader profile, no comment facility and no field anywhere on this site into which anything could be typed. No mechanism exists by which your details could reach us, and we retain no names, no addresses of any kind, no numbers and no messages.
No cookie is set by this site and nothing is written to local or session storage. There is accordingly no consent banner, since consent would have nothing to attach to. Your browser will cache the stylesheet, the single script file and the images to make a return visit faster, and that cache is under your control alone.
No analytics service, tag manager, heat map, session recorder or social pixel appears on any page here. We run no measurement of our own and load none belonging to anybody else. The practical result is that we do not know which reviews are read, and given the subject matter of this journal we find the irony acceptable.
There are no adverts, no advertising network scripts, no affiliate parameters on any link and no sponsored content. Reading an attempt log contributes to no commercial profile of you, because nothing on this site is capable of assembling one.
Every file this site requires is served from this domain: the stylesheet, one script, all photographs and illustrations, the glyph and the favicon. No font provider, script library, embedded player or media host is contacted, so loading a page generates no request to any other party whatsoever.
The web server delivering these files may automatically record ordinary technical request details: the file requested, a timestamp, an HTTP status code and a truncated network address. That logging is a property of the server rather than a decision of ours, is never associated with an identity, is not analysed for behaviour, and rotates out quickly.
Reviews occasionally cite material hosted elsewhere. Those destinations operate under their own privacy practices, which we can neither see nor influence, and which apply from the point at which you leave this domain rather than while you are reading here.
This journal is written for a general adult readership interested in how difficulty is constructed. Because no personal data is collected from any visitor at all, none is collected from minors either.
Data protection law provides rights of access, rectification and erasure over personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to disclose, amend or delete. That is a deliberate design decision rather than an omission we intend to correct later.
Should this site ever gain a feature that processes personal data, this notice will be rewritten before that feature goes live and the change explained in plain terms, rather than absorbed silently into a revised date.
